Postpartum Nutrition
Good nourishment after you’ve had a baby has huge impact on how well you heal both physically and emotionally.
Food has been an ever-present accompaniment to my family, friends and work life. I had a café, Mouse & de Lotz, for nine years in Hackney. I loved providing a special place at the centre of the community, filling the bellies and hearts of Shacklewell Lane residents. This is something I still love to do for families with my work as a doula in London.
As well as having an understanding about postpartum nutrition I also know the need for delicious homemade comfort food during this time. I make sure you’re always left with an abundance of nutritious meals and snacks to allow yourself to revitalise and replenish your needs. Some of my favourite things to cook for new mums include a warming, gently spiced dhal that feels good for the soul. A flavourful kuku, Persian herb filled frittata, that’s full of protein and iron. And a moreish flapjacks, packed with dates, nuts and seed. I can suggest ideas and tailor thoughtful recipes to individual diets and tastes or I’ll prepare recipes from your favourite cookbooks.
I also relish the opportunity to cook for small, bespoke gatherings leaving your table set and food ready so it can be easily put together.
"We arrived home from hospital with our first baby - drained and a bit shell-shocked. Nadya was there, armed with delicious food and what we would come to know as her signature warm and nurturing presence."
